There's no doubt about it; applying to an MBA program can sometimes seem like a full-time job in itself! But there's a way to make sure the process runs smoothly. All it requires is a little planning, and that MBA program will be yours for the next school year.
- Make an MBA application checklist. Yes, it may be timeworn advice - but it's timeworn advice for a reason! Take a half-hour out of your day to make a list detailing everything that you'll need to complete your MBA application essay, application, and any other aspects of MBA admission. Make a detailed timeline stating what needs to be done by what time; for example, 'December: Take GMAT,' and so on.
- Make sure there are no surprises. Look over your MBA application packet; read your MBA program brochures thoroughly. Is world economics an absolute prerequisite for anyone applying to the MBA program? Will your MBA application be regarded as incomplete if you don't enclose your high school transcript, along with a medical record? Make sure you know before you start.
- Before you start your MBA application essay, make sure you know exactly what the admissions council is looking for. This can be as simple as reading the questions thoroughly - and making sure you answer each part of the question in your response.
