Accelerated Online MBA's
Since the Internet boom in the 90's, the pace of business has quickened. We are now able to send huge files to colleagues across the world instantaneously, instead of having to wait for next-day airmail. We can meet with each other virtually anywhere through teleconferencing, and can consistently be in touch with each other through a wide variety of mobile technology. There really isn't much excuse anymore for not making a decision because a key member of the team was "out-of-pocket." Key members of the team can and often make decisions while getting their daily workout at the gym, or late at night in their hotel rooms. Not only has communication increased the pace of how we do business today, we have seen increases in the efficiency of the supply-chain, customer relationship management, and enterprise resource management, to name but a few aspects of business that have been revolutionized by web-based software.
Because the business world has accelerated at such a large rate, the costs of leaving it in order to get an MBA have risen as well. Those considering the benefits of getting a traditional MBA and temporarily leaving their careers need to also weigh the risks of missing out on important promotion opportunities as well as leaving the cutting edge. Historically, many people in this position opted to earn their MBA at night, while continuing to work up the corporate ladder. Unfortunately, that option has quickly diminished for many in the working world, because business today often doesn't exist in only one office in one city, but constantly demands domestic and international travel. For those that need to be on a plane at a moments notice, making that Wednesday night class is no longer an option. The education industry saw this need and utilized technology to provide an answer-they created the online MBA program, which currently has people enrolling in droves. Online MBA programs have grown by leaps and bounds throughout the years and have addressed the needs of those that require an MBA to advance their careers, don't want to leave the workplace to get it, and need a more flexible program than offered from traditional night school.
